Toblerone Lava Cake Review

My boyfriend is OBSESSED with Toblerone, so when we saw this at Harris Teeter we knew we had to try it.

I am a huge fan of quick desserts because i'm honestly clueless when it comes to making desserts from scratch. These come in a pack of two. They are on the more expensive side at about $6.29 per package. These lava cakes come topped with melted Toblerone and a gooey center. To heat, just take one cake out of all the packaging, place on a plate and heat in the microwave for about 40-60 seconds depending on your microwave wattage. That's it! Seems easy enough, right?

I heated the first cake for 45 seconds, which was not enough time, so I put it back in the microwave for 10 more seconds and that seemed to do the trick. I microwaved the next one for 55 seconds. The top was nice and melted over the sides and you could see the nuts. For the topping, we got Tillamook Rocky Road. This ice cream has become one of our favorites ever since my boyfriend discovered it on a trip to Oregon.

It was time for the moment of truth. To me, the most important feature of a lava cake is the gooey, warm center. I cut into this cake and was extremely disappointed to see that there was absolutely no gooey center. It was heartbreaking. The taste is great and the melted Toblerone on top is the best part. However, this cake is very dry and definitely needs to be served with ice cream. All in all, I would rate this a 5/10. The taste is there but it was just so dry. I would not buy these again.
